One of the Big Four Gemstones. (The other three gemstones are Diamond, Ruby and Sapphire.)

Emeralds usually have quite a lot of inclusions and thus have lower clarity grades in GIA scale. Many emeralds undergo fracture-filling treatment to enhance their durability and clarity, which is common accepted by buyers.

The most common cuts for emeralds are Emerald Cut and Oval Cut, due to the shape of emerald rough stones.

The price varies mainly based on its colour and size.
Colombian Emeralds (emeralds from Colombia, South America) are well-known to have more intense bluish green colour than emeralds from other mines. They are commonly related to high quality emeralds.
